Peels & Laser Treatments

spa-servicesIf you’re looking to take your non-surgical skin and body treatments to the next level in order to achieve more dramatic results, then you may wish to visit a medical spa for your next treatment. A medical spa, or “med spa,” is the combination of a day spa and medical office, where people can go to get medical-grade treatments and procedures, all while under the care and supervision of a medical doctor. Though the services offered may vary, a medical spa will typically offer treatments that address signs of aging, treat skin conditions, relax the body and promote general wellness.

At Leading Medical Clinics of the World®, we know that not all medical spas are created equal. The top-ranked med spas are considered such because they are operated by board-certified doctors with the technical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to safely and effectively perform physician-grade services. It is only these doctors and the medical spas they oversee that have been hand-selected for inclusion in our exclusive directory.

Popular Medical Spa Treatments

A chemical peel is a common treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, skin pigmentation and other skin conditions. The treatment involves applying a chemical solution to the skin, which will have an exfoliating effect. The solution will then peel off, taking the topmost layer of damaged skin with it to reveal a smoother, healthier layer of skin with a radiant glow.

Dermabrasion and Microdermabrasion

Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion both work the same way in order to exfoliate damaged skin, increase collagen production and activate new, healthy skin growth. To accomplish this, the two treatments use different methods to address two different levels of care. Microdermabrasion uses the application of tiny crystals to gently exfoliate the skin, exposing a healthy new layer of skin while, at the same time, stimulating collagen growth. Dermabrasion is a more intensive approach, as it treats more advanced skin conditions like deep wrinkles and extensive scarring and sun damage. The dermabrasion treatment removes a deeper layer of surface skin with the use of a rotating wheel or brush.

Photo Facials

A photo facial is a skin resurfacing treatment that uses light-based energy to treat skin conditions and boost collagen production, assisting in the growth of healthy new skin cells. The two most common types of photo facials are LED (light-emitting diode) and IPL (intense pulsed light). An LED photo facial uses a narrow spectrum of light that is focused on the skin and is often used to treat acne, dark spots and signs of aging. An IPL photo facial is a more intense photo facial, as it delivers a more intense level of high-energy light in bright bursts. IPL photo facials effectively treat uneven skin pigmentation, broken capillaries, spider veins and skin redness.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and lift aging, sagging skin on the face and neck for a more youthful appearance. An Ultherapy treatment stimulates collagen growth in the deepest layers of skin using ultrasound waves. The regeneration of collagen has a tightening, lifting effect on the skin over time, with results that can last up to one year after treatment.

Laser skin resurfacing treatments rejuvenate the skin by removing its damaged outer layers and stimulating collagen production for new skin growth. A skin resurfacing procedure uses an application of focused laser light on the skin, dissolving the topmost skin layers, which are then peeled away to reveal a smoother, more evenly pigmented and healthier layer of skin underneath.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment that removes unwanted hair on the face and body. To accomplish this, an intense, pulsating beam of laser light is focused on the hair, damaging the hair follicles which will discourage further hair growth in that area. The hair removal from this treatment is permanent, though it may take several sessions to sufficiently damage the hair follicles in the treatment area or areas.

Injectables and Fillers

Many medical spas offer cosmetic injectables and fillers, which are used to treat signs of aging like wrinkles, volume loss, thinning lips and sagging facial skin. Botox® and Dysport are popular injectable treatments that use the injection of a neotoxin substance to temporarily paralyze facial muscles so that they don’t contract and cause wrinkles. Many people, both women and men, use this non-surgical facelift alternative when they want to achieve a more youthful facial appearance.

Dermal fillers are another popular injectable treatment. Hyaluronic acid-based gel fillers like Juvéderm®, Voluma, Restylane® and Perlane® are the most commonly used for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles and deep facial folds. The hyaluronic acid in these fillers binds to the water molecules in the skin, giving the skin a plumper and more youthful look.

Latisse®

Latisse® is an FDA-approved, prescription treatment for eyelashes that are either too thin, too sparse or otherwise insufficient in growth. This topical solution is applied to the lashes over time (typically a period of several weeks) in order to stimulate new, thicker and longer eyelash growth.
